Jamaat-e-Islami case: SIA raids multiple locations in central, south Kashmir

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at numerous places in central and south Kashmir on Saturday morning. as part of its investigation in a case registered against Jamat-e-Islami “to choke the availability of funds for secessionist activities and to dismantle the ecosystem of anti-national elements & terror networks hostile to India’s sovereignty.”

“Today on 24.12.2022 in District Pulwama, Kulgam, Budgam and Srinagar, properties at a dozen locations worth INR 122.89 crores approximately after being notified by concerned DMs on the recommendation of SIA J&K, have been barred with restrictions

on usage and entry,” a press release issued by the SIA said. .

The sleuths of the investigating agency with the assistance of the local police and the CRPF carried out raids at many locations in Srinagar and Pulwama.

The SIA also raided the property of late Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Bulbul Bagh, Barzulla in Srinagar. The property was attached as per the orders of the District Magistrate, reports said. .

Similarly, the team at Mazhama installed the restriction notice on the non-functional Darasgah of Jamaat consisting of two rooms with 6 malras of land.Similarly, the property belonging to the organization at Ompora Budgam was also attached. .

Reports said that searches were conducted in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. They said that atleast nineteen properties are being attached, today by the 11 teams of SIA.

 “The action would uproot the menace of terror funding to a great extent in UT  of J&K besides being a stepping stone in ensuring rule of law & a society without fear,” the SIA press release said..”Pertinently, SIA has identified as many as 188 JeI properties across the UT of  J&K which have either been notified or are under the process of being notified for  further legal action.”
