Ricky Kej wins a third Grammy Award and creates history in India

Bengaluru : Indian Music Composer Ricky Kej has won a third Grammy  Award at the 65 th Annual Grammy Awards for his globally acclaimed album ‘Divine Tides’ with Rock-Legend Stewart Copeland. By achieving this massive feat, A bengalurian  Ricky Kej has created history in India by becoming the only Indian alive to win 3 Grammy Awards. The result was announced at the live ceremony held at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, USA  on the 5 th of February 2023.

Ricky Kej’s previous Grammy  Award wins came in 2022 and 2015 for ‘Best New Age Album’ for ‘Divine Tides’ and ‘Winds of Samsara’. Featuring artists from around the world, the current Grammy® Award-winning music album ‘Divine Tides’ is a tribute to Vasudeva Kutumbakam – The World is one family. This critically acclaimed album contains 9 songs and 8 music videos that were filmed around the world from the exquisite beauty of the Indian Himalayas to the Icy forests of Spain. ‘Divine Tides’ has already won several awards at various festivals from around the world including a Grammy Award in 2022. With rich textures of transcendent music, ‘Divine Tides’ is a surreal audio-visual experience. By evoking a powerful emotional response in its listeners, this is truly positive music that can transform our planet.

Ricky Kej  statement on winning award said, “It is an absolutely surreal experience to win my third Grammy Award. I have always been a proud Indian and I am extremely grateful to have had another opportunity to make my country proud by achieving this on the biggest platform in the  world for music. Although my music is global, it has always has strong Indian roots and I am extremely proud that Indian music has been recognized for this prestigious award by The Recording  Academy. This award solidifies my belief to continue making music that can inspire positive social impact. I’d like to thank The Recording Academy for this honour, my collaborators Stewart Copeland, Herbert Waltl and Eric Schilling, all my fellow artists and everyone else who made the album ‘Divine Tides’ possible.” He added.
