Proposal to develop Kurukshetra having 134 pilgrimage centre in 48-kos as tourist centre in Haryana 

Kurukshetra: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya also the Chairman of Kurukshetra Development Board in a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state government officers given a final shape to develop a historic as well as religious town Kurukshetra as a tourist centre in Haryana state similar to the Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and promote it on the world map informing people about the importance of this place in the state. Among those prepared action plan in the meeting were Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala,  Lok Sabha MP of area Nayab Singh Saini,  Kurukshetra  MLA Subhash Sudha, senior officers of Haryana state and board members. According to information, large number of tourists from all over the country visit Kurukshetra to have a holy dip in the ‘Sarovar’. A total numbers of 20 agenda items were discussed in this meeting to bring Kurukshetra on world map in which decisions were taken unanimously. A booklet of ‘International Gita Mahotsav-2022’ was also released on this occasion.

The Governor had directed state tourism department to prepare a booklet on the role and importance of 134 pilgrimage centre in 48-kos of Kurukshetra and structural infrastructure should also be developed in these areas to provide benefits, facilities to the maximum number of visiting pilgrims. He said that the meeting of the Kurukshetra Development Board would be organized every year to take decisions regarding the development of the Kurukshetra Development Board. Governor said that efforts will be made to spread holy ‘Geeta’ preaches across the world. Chief Minister Khattar said that with effect from 28th April to May 1st this year International Gita Jayanti Festival is being celebrated at Australia. According to information, prior to this, similar International Festivals were organized at Mauritius, England and Canada also. He directed state tourism department to set up Tourist Information Centre at Panchkula, Gurugram, Kurukshetra and Rakhigarh in the state to provide information to tourists visiting the state. Khattar said, the state government will take steps to spread the knowledge of holy ‘Gita’ globally. He said that a statue of Maharishi Dadhichi would be installed here, besides a rest house would also be constructed near the office of Kurukshetra Development Board.
