‘Operation Clean’ against hotels, restaurants jointly by police, administration & excise department

Ambala:  After large number of incidents reported recently in the town in which hotels and restaurants were found involved in illegal activities like serving liquor without having bar license, running sex rackets and without having registration from municipal authorities as such several government departments including district administration, police and excise department jointly has started action  against owner and staff working in hotels and restaurants in twin city Ambala allegedly involved in illegal activities. In past couple of days, police conducted raids at large number of hotels near inter-state bus terminal and Ambala railway station and took action against hotels and restaurants serving liquor to customers without a bar license as well as arrested number of couples while having illicit sex relations in hotel rooms without having entry in hotel records.

Information reveals, Ambala being situated at the meeting point of many states usually passengers during journey change trains at Ambala rail junction as well as inter-state bus terminal Ambala Cantt as such there are nearly three dozen hotels and large number of restaurants in the area. Anil Kumar DSP Ambala Cantt told media persons that municipal authorities have been requested to provide information about all hotels functioning without seeking approval from the government enabling police to take stern action against such hotels and restaurants to seal as well as demolish such illegally functioning hotels with bulldozers. He said, police raids will continue against such hotels harming law and order.Meanwhile, police along with excise department team has conducted several raids in hotels in the town in past couple of days and during search arrested many suspicious couples lying in highly objectionable condition in the rooms in few hotels. Meanwhile, according to Sadar police station, Ambala Cantt three police teams have been deployed for search of Deepak Batra owner of Deep Hotel Ambala Cantt where police on a clue conducted raid and during search found a youth along with a ‘Nepali’ girl in the room and a case was registered against six persons including couple, two hotel employees, owner of the hotel Deepak Batra and a broker brought ‘Nepali’ girl on contract for prostitution. However, both Deepak Batra and the agents are yet absconding. The situation further worsened after police along with excise department team during raid at Dilli Durbar restaurant in Cantonment Board area also owned by Deepak Batra found that liquor was being served to the customers as well as in parties frequently held in the restaurant without haing bar license.
