Amritsar, March 6 – Customs staff of Shri Guru Ramdas ji International Airport (SGRDJI) Airport, Amritsar intercepted 11 bags containing 2,60,400 pieces (1302 cartons- each contains 10 packets)of super slim cigarettes of ESSE Golden Leaf brand ( Made in Korea) coming from Dubai by Spice Jet SG 56 flight in the morning of 5Th March, 2023.
In a offical statement issued here by the Custom department here today stated that the market valuation of the goods is approx. Rs 29.5 lakhs.
The bags were with Airlines staff as Rush Bags and on finding some suspicious images on scanning, one bag was opened and found containing the above mentioned super slim imported cigarettes, said official.
The Airlines staff informed that two passengers travelled by the same flight the previous day on 4th March, 2023 from Dubai but these bags didn’t arrive with them.
Today on 5th March, the 11 bags with 2,60,400 cigarettes were intercepted on arrival and the same were seized under the Custom Act, 1962. Further investigation is under progress, said the official.
