Chandigarh :  March 28, 2023 : In a statement Chandigarh Press Club president Saurabh Duggal condemned  the suspension of twitter accounts of many journalists, commentators, media organisations, including the independent verticals of Punjab. Twitter accounts were ‘withheld’ in India on the request of Punjab government.

Today morning, the twitter account of BBC’s Punjabi News Service was withheld and has been restored after a few hours.

The status of the twitter accounts of other journalists and media verticals that were withheld earlier is still under suspension.

This is an attack on the freedom of press and against free speech.

Chandigarh Press Club demanded the twitter accounts of the journalists and media organisations, including independent verticals, should be restored and the government agencies should stop harassing the journalists.
