Congress slams Modi govt over Odisha train Accident

New Delhi- The Congress party today demanded the resignation of Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the three train accident in Odisha’s Balasore that claimed 288 deaths and 1000 injured, calling it a serious case of negligence. The Opposition parties such as Shiv Sena and TMC has also called upon the Modi government to demand railway Minister’s resignation.

Addressing mediapersons in New Delhi Congress MP Shaktisinh Govil and senior Congress leader Pawan khera said that the odisha train accident is a case of utter negligence, serious lapses in the system. This is not a natural calamity. This is man-made devastation by utter- negligence, serious lapses, incompetence and a narcissistic sense of know it all attitude by Modi Government. Prime Minister Modi says that the guilty should be punished so he should start from Vaishnaw, khera added. We demand the resignation of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw immediately, senior congress leaders added.

Expressing their condolences to the bereaved families, Pawan Khera added “ PM Modi is responsible for  a green flagging spree of Vande Bharat Express trains. He himself is responsible for creating this all is well façade in the Indian railways. We demand that despite multiple warnings by the CAG, parliamentary standing Committee,  Why did the government not spend on sprucing up railway safety?.

 In the past also when such accidents had occurred, Madhavrao Scindia, Nitish Kumar, Lal bahadur Shastri had given resignations on moral grounds, .so Railway Minister Ashwini should take the responsibility and resign from the post.  On Saturday West Bengal Chief minister Mamta Banerjee said that the accident could have been averted had the train been fitted with an anti-collision device. The anti Collision system KAVACH is still under development. Ex Railway Minister laloo Prasad yadav have also demanded high level inquiry and action should be taken against the responsible ones…there was major negligence, they have destroyed Railways, RJD chief said in Patna. Meanwhile, The Railway Minister has announced a high level probe apart from the statuatory investigation by the Commissioner of railway Safety. Ashwini vaishnaw said that the root cause of the accident has been identified ,it was an issue of electronic interlocking.
