Ambala: A woman drugs smuggler identified as Geeta was arrested by a police patrolling party during night on a clue that a female carrying intoxicated capsules is the area near bus stand Ambala Cantt, as such police held a barrier opposite Shiv temple near the old fish market when after sometime saw a woman carrying hand bag was coming. Police stopped suspected woman and started checking when found 80 strips containing 1656 intoxicated capsules in her bag. She was arrested by the police and taken to Sadar police station where a case under NDPS act was refistered against her since she failed to produce any bill for the drugs.
Information reveals that much increased number of cases have been registered at Ambala during year 2022 as compared to previous year 2021 under NDPS Act ,recording 116 cases registeredn as against 91 cases were registered during previous year 2021 in which police arrested 116 drug smugglers and recovered 11 kg 457 gm opium, 1 quintal 6 kg poppy husk, 23 kg 454 gm ganja, 1 kg 213 gm heroine, 213 intoxicated injections and 45000 intoxicated tablets and capsules.
While talking to media persons here SP Ambala Jashandeep Singh Randhawa told that during year 2022 Ambala police had arrested 182 drugs smugglers in 147 cases registered under NDPS Act recovering 18 kg 374 gm opium, 17 quintal 42 kg poppy husk, 30 kg ganja, 5kg 475 gm heroine, 950 intoxicated injections and 65000 intoxicated tablets. Randhawa told that action was taken by the state government to demolish properties of drugs smugglers built with money earned through drugs smuggling for value worth Rs 5.22 crore.
