‘SGPC Sri Amritsar’ web channel launched by SGPC for Gurbani broadcasting

President Dhami levels serious allegations on Punjab Govt

Amritsar : The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has released its official YouTube/web channel today to broadcast Gurbani Kirtan (singing of holy Sikh verses) from Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib to Sangat across the world. In this regard, after the bhog (concluding ceremony) of Sri Akhand Path, a Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) was held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, where the web channel was officially launched. The channel started by the SGPC for the Gurbani broadcast has been named as ‘SGPC Sri Amritsar’, which will be available on YouTube and Facebook.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion the SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has warned the Punjab government to stop interfering in the SGPC affairs said, “ Punjab Government should focus on its affair rather to interfere in the Sikh religious affairs as SGPC is capable to carry out its all religious works. So we don’t need any kind of help from the Punjab Government. SGPC is capable to set up its own channel”, he quipped.

He asked the gathering don’t follow the Punjab Government as they were misleading the Sikh community by spreading wrong propaganda against the SGPC.

Adding further Dhami said, “ One of our confident of SGPC was offered by the Punjab Government to launch a channel to defame the SGPC but he out rightly rejected the offer and informed me about the bad act of Punjab Government”, Dhami  alleged.

Leveling serious allegations on Punjab Government Dhami said, “SGPC executive Committee members were offered huge luxurious and financial offers to oppose the SGPC move and other religious agendas but they vehemently rejected by saying that as they are committed to SGPC from the core of their heart. One of the cabinet minister of Punjab Government was behind this mischievous act”, Dhami alleged.

Accusing the Delhi Gurdwara Management committee, Dhami said, They were working on the guidelines of AAP led Government in Punjab and interfering in the SGPC working by spreading wrong information among the Sikh community. Delhi Gurdwara Management committee people has formed the union formed of some employees of the SGPC in the recent past as against the norms of the Sikh organization. The mischievous act of registering the union under trade has also been done by the Punjab government”, said Dhami adding that the SGPC is the holy institution of the Guru’s house, where the work is done with the Dasvandh (10% of income) of the Sangat.

“This organization is not a factory or commercial establishment where a trade union can be established. The SGPC will not allow anyone to act contrary to its traditions. The SGPC employees stand with humanity in all difficult times and at present, they are rendering great services even during floods. But some mischievous people deliberately want to spoil/defame the organization’s management, which will not be allowed”, said Dhami.

Dhami said that the Punjab government is hatching conspiracies to weaken the Sikh organization, but it does not know that it is the body blessed by the Gurus, which has always given a befitting response to such moves of the governments. He said that the government should do its work and fulfill the promises made to the people, and the Sikh community knows how to do its work.

He clarified during his address that all the rights to broadcast Gurbani from Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib will remain with the SGPC and no other channel will be able to broadcast it. He said that the SGPC will soon set up its own satellite channel, the process of which is being done actively.

“At present PTC channel has been authorized to broadcast Gurbani on satellite as per Sangat’s demand. The SGPC had appealed to the management of PTC in this regard, which has agreed. Along with this, the monthly expenses of Rs 12 lakh to be paid to a company selected by the SGPC for broadcasting Gurbani on its official YouTube and social media platforms will also be borne by the PTC”, said Harjinder Singh Dhami.

About changing the name of the web channel, the SGPC President said that this has been done after the suggestions of scholars and discussions with the high priests, because in the future if any legal complications arise related to the channel, the name of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib will remain out of it.
