SGPC delegation led by Harjinder Singh Dhami meet Union Minister Anurag Thakur for satellite channel

Amritsar, July 25 – A high-level delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has today met the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting i Anurag Singh Thakur in Delhi as part of the efforts being made to establish its own satellite channel for broadcasting Gurbani from Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.

The delegation included SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, Members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Kulwant Singh Mannan, and Sarvan Singh Kular. Apart from this, Union Minister of State Shri Som Prakash was also present on this occasion.

During the meeting with the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the SGPC delegation also handed over a letter, in which, a request has been made to expedite the process of SGPC’s satellite channel.

In a statement issued here in this regard, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that after the SGPC started its own web channel, now efforts have also been started to establish a satellite channel.

“Primarily the concerned Union Minister has been informed so that the process can be completed soon. There has been a long-standing demand of the Sangat from across the globe for establishing the channel, and the SGPC is committed to fulfilling it”, said Dhami.

He said that an expression has also been shared with the Union Minister that the SGPC’s effort is to reach the maximum number of Sangat (devotees + community) on Doordarshan’s Free Dish after establishing its own satellite channel. He said the Union Minister has assured to take the process forward with serious consideration. He expressed the hope that the SGPC will establish its own satellite channel in the near future.
