My duty remains same to protect idea of India: Rahul Gandhi after Supreme Court’s relief

New Delhi : Maintaining grace and dignity in victory, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, said that his duty remained the same to save the idea of India.

Reacting to the Supreme Court decision staying his conviction in a defamation case, Gandhi tweeted in his characteristic humble and gracious way, “Come what may, my duty remains the same. Protect the idea of India”.

The Congress meanwhile hailed the Supreme Court of India’s verdict to stay the conviction of former party president Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case.

“Truth Alone Triumphs!”, remarked Congress president MallikarjunKharge in a tweet, while adding, “we welcome the verdict by the Hon’ble Supreme Court giving relief to @RahulGandhi. Justice has been delivered. Democracy has won. The Constitution has been upheld”.

Lashing out at the BharatiyaJanata Party, he said, “BJP’s conspiratorial hounding of Shri Gandhi has been thoroughly exposed. Time for them to stop their malicious targeting of Opposition leaders”.

Kharge observed, “it is high time they respect the mandate given by the people and start governing the country, on which they have miserably failed in the last 10 years”.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi remarked, while quoting Gautama Buddha, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth”.

Congress general secretary, Communication, Jairam Ramesh said, “the decision of the Supreme Court is an affirmation of truth and justice”.

“Despite the relentless efforts of the BJPs machinery, @RahulGandhi has refused to bend, break or bow, choosing instead to place his faith in the judicial process”, Ramesh tweeted, while adding, “this is a lesson to the BJP and their minions: You may do the worst, but we will not back down. We will continue to highlight and highlight your failures as a government and as a party. We will uphold our constitutional ideals and keep faith in our institutions which you want to destroy completely”.

Hailing the decision, Congress general secretary, Organization, KC Venugopal said, “we welcome the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s verdict staying @RahulGandhiji’s conviction. Justice has prevailed. No force can silence the voice of the people”.
