Rahul Gandhi reinstated as Wayanad MP

New Delhi- Rahul Gandhi is reinstated as a member of Lok Sabha after the Supreme Court relief given to him on his conviction in the Modi surname case. The official announcement of Rahul Gandhi’s reinstatement as an MP has filled the party workers and leaders with great happiness. He will now resume his duties in the Lok Sabha and serve the people of India. The new order withdraws the previous one that had led to Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Parliament following his conviction in Modi surname case. The earlier notification came on March 24, by Surat Court in Gujarat in the criminal defamation case of 2019.

Congress celebrates the victory of Rahul Gandhi calling it a “victory of love against hate”. The Congress leader will now get an official residence in Delhi that was allotted to him as an MP. He stayed in 12 Tuglaq Lane Bungalow since 2005. He had vacated the Bungalow on April 22, a month after his conviction.

Reacting to the recent developments Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said the move brings relief to the people of India and especially Wayanad. It is a welcome step and….whatever time is left of their tenure , BJP and Modi govt should utilize that in actual governance rather than denigrating Democracy by targeting opposition parties, Kharge tweeted.  Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in a tweet said” with enormous relief, welcome the official announcement of Rahul Gandhi’d reinstatement. Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi is also happy for his Brother’s victory and has been posting pictures of Rahul Gandhi on social media.

 The Apex court had stayed the Gandhi’s conviction in the case paving a way of reinstatement as Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad, Kerala on July 4. BJP leader Purnesh Modi filed a criminal defamation case in 2019 against Gandhi’s remark “ How come all thieves have Modi surname as a common surname” in a election rally in Karnataka.
