Hry khaps, farmers’ union demand Monu Manesar’s arrest

Chandigarh : Representatives from approximately 30 khaps in Haryana, leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, diverse farmer unions, and individuals from various faiths convened a significant mahapanchayat in Bass village, Narnaund town, within the Hisar district. This event, held on Wednesday, centered on responding to the recent Nuh communal violence and culminated in the passage of several resolutions aimed at restoring peace and addressing issues of unrest.

Throughout the mahapanchayat, attendees underscored the crucial importance of maintaining peace and harmony within the state, cautioning against the employment of inflammatory slogans or language targeting the Muslim community. The gathering drew participants not only from the local vicinity but also from regions like Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Bhiwani, and Fatehabad. The assembly was orchestrated under the leadership of Suresh Koth, a notable member of the SKM.

A series of resolutions were presented and unanimously adopted by the members. These included a call for the apprehension of individuals Bittu Bajrangi and Monu Manesar, alleged to have used derogatory language to challenge the Muslim community during a procession. The assembly fervently advocated for individuals from all faiths to abstain from participating in any form of violence in the future. Furthermore, attendees, representing diverse strata of society, pledged to collaborate to establish peace and harmony within the areas affected by the Nuh violence.

Among the key resolutions were demands for a thorough investigation into the Nuh communal clash and strict measures against those inciting hostility through social media platforms. The gathering also emphasized the urgency of taking prompt action against those threatening Muslims, coercing them to vacate their residential areas, and against individuals propagating false information targeting specific communities.

Suresh Koth, a prominent figure within the SKM, voiced concerns regarding the purported attempts by certain elements associated with the BJP to propagate unrest within the state. Koth underlined the deep-rooted bonds that have been nurtured over decades and categorically asserted that khaps and farmer unions would stand steadfast against any disruption to these bonds. He fervently condemned those orchestrating processions pressuring village leaders to issue directives for the Muslim community to depart, pledging that such actions would not go unchallenged.

Koth asserted, “The entities allegedly linked to the BJP, conducting processions and coercing village authorities, will face consequences. We demand resolute action against these agitators who jeopardize the societal fabric. At this juncture, Haryana’s khaps and farmer unions stand united with all communities, resolute in preserving the prevailing atmosphere of peace.”
