PCB releases new video with Imran Khan after backlash

New Delhi :Pakistan has never failed to insult its hero, be it in sports, academics, politics or any other field. The most recent example of such disrespect was when the Pakistan Cricket Board released a promotional video for Pakistan Cricket ahead of the upcoming World Cup and left out its greatest cricketer and only World Cup captain, Imran Khan. However, after heavy criticism on social media and in the sport, the PCB responded with an improved video showing clips of Imran Khan carrying the 1992 World Cup trophy after winning the final.

WasimAkram, a well-known Pakistan cricket hero, expressed disappointment that the PCB removed cricket icon Imran Khan from a film commemorating the national team’s historic achievements since its inception in 1952. Since the release of the video, the PCB has been met with outrage. Many called for the removal of the video as one of the sport’s biggest personalities is not featured in it.

Akram expressed his feelings on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter. While pointing out political differences, He stressed that Khan’s important contribution to cricket cannot be overlooked. He demanded that the video be removed and that the PCB apologise for the mistake.

“Regardless of political differences, Imran Khan remains a global cricket icon who transformed Pakistan into a formidable power in his era and gave us a direction,” he said. The PCB should immediately remove the video and apologise,” Akram demanded.
