Yamunanagar : On getting clues as regard fraud by officials and staff of the railway workshop Yamunanagar, a team from railways headquarter Baroda House has  started investigation in said fraud and stopped three trucks containing iron scrap loaded from the railway workshop at a distance from the workshop and took these trucks to a nearby ‘Dharamkanta’ (weighbridge), when it was observed by the vigilance staff that approximately 5 to 10 ton steel scraps was found less in these trucks. Further investigation by the vigilance team from Delhi found that an underweight chip was fixed in the weigh-bridge installed inside the railway workshop and this underweight game was going on since a long time caused financial loss worth crores of rupees to the railways.

Information reveals, a similar case of fraud was reported in this workshop about five years ago when during auction of iron scrap of nine damaged rail engines the concerned officers had sold the costly metals including brass, copper, aluminium having market rate worth Rupees 500 to 600 each kg as well as costly steel springs and wheels of the engines sold at the throwaway price Rs 30 each kg as iron scrap for their self-vested interest which causing financial loss worth Rupees 60 crore to the railway department and a case was also registered against the workshop officers involved in embezzlement and the case is yet undertrial in the court. According to information, vigilance team from Delhi railway headquarter now trying to find out since when the cheatings by the railway workshop staff are going on with estimated value of loss to the railways and the suspected accused are trying to save themselves.  
However, vigilance team from Delhi got checked the weigh-bridge installed inside the railway workshop which was claimed by the alleged workshop officials correct, blaming that ‘Dharamkanta’ where the weight of iron scrap in three trucks was checked was defective, but during investigation it was observed that said ‘Dharamkanta’ outside the railways workshop was in order, whereas an underweight chip was found inserted in weigh-bridge installed inside the railway workshop. However, Shobhan Choudhary  General Manager Northern Railways told that vigilance team is trying to find out when and by whom the underweight chip was affixed in the weighbridge inside the railway workshop and how much financial loss has been suffered by the railway department and find out all those involved in this scam and will not be spared at any cost.
