CPCB Report: 7 cities in Haryana recorded most polluted

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report out of the 17 most polluted cities declared in the country, there are 7 cities from Haryana state only which  include Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Bhiwani, Bahadurgarh, Faridabad and Rohtak. The particulate matter (PM) of these cities was recorded  2.5 which is harmful for human health. Apart from this, Air Quality Index (AQI) has also been recorded more than 200 in these cities as such the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has started taking strict action and has declared alert due to increasing pollution in these cities, and has directed the Haryana government to submit the report on the stone crusher units running in Mahendragarh, Charkhi Dadri and other places in the state, besides the report about permission granted to run these units. However, the state state government has already taken action against illegally operating stone crushers in the state. The Haryana government had submitted a report to the NGT last month, which stated that out of 133 stone crushing units operating in Mahendragarh district, 49 stone crushers have been closed. These stone crushers were being operated illegally. Moreover, 104 such stone crushers were found in Charkhi Dadri which were being operated against the norms and the government has closed 40 of these units. Haryana State Pollution Control Board also closed a large number of stone crushers functioning  illegally in Naraingarh area in Ambala district in the past . Apart from this, five manual monitoring stations have also been established by thr Haryana Pollution Control Board. According to the  Pollution Control Board, AQI of few cities in NCR has been declared extremely bad, recorded as 322 in Faridabad, 304 in Noida, 354 in Greater Noida and 313 in Delhi. According to the report three days ago AQI was recorded as 284 in Bahadurgarh, 255 in Gurugram, 243 in Karnal, 269 in Kaithal and 256 in Kurukshetra which according to the doctors is bad for the health. Information revealed that there was no town identified as safe (having 0 to 50 AQI) in Haryana state.

Till Saturday more than  871 cases of stubble burning have been reported in Haryana this season. Maximum cases of stubble burning have been found at 128 places in Fatehabad district. Apart from this, stubble was burnt at 114 places in Ambala, 113 places in Kaithal, 110 places  in Jind, 102 places  in Kurukshetra, 55-55 places in Karnal and Hisar, 53 places  in Yamunanagar, 49 places in Sonipat. Apart from this, 45 cases of stubble burning have been reported in Palwal, 18 in Panipat, 13 in Sirsa, 7 in Rohtak, 4 in Jhajjar, 2 each in Bhiwani and Faridabad and 1 in Panchkula. According to information, the number of stubble burning cases reported in Punjab is much more than double this year, adversely affecting pollution in the air.
