Amritsar: A serving Assistant Sub Inspector Saroop Singh was found shot dead by the unidentified assailants.
Confirming the incident here today, police said that the body of Saroop Singh was found at village Khankot with a bullet mark on his head.
Police said that ASI was coming missing since last night when he left his house with some important official documents for the police station Nawa-Pind where he was posted. His murder came to light in the morning today, when a passerby noticed and informed the police which reached on the spot and identified the body as ASI Saroop Singh.
Police said that as per preliminary investigation, he died with one single shot of bullet on his head. Throughout the night the body remained on the road and facts came to light when a passerby informed the police about the murder of ASI.
Superintendent of Police Jugraj Singh said that police have got some vital clues about the death of Saroop Singh and shortly police will reach a logical conclusion.
However, family members of ASI denied about any kind of personal enmity of ASI with anyone and demanded speedy probe to bring out the truth about the mysterious murder of Saroop Singh.
