Haryana police arrested 436 in 444 cases  in campaign illicit liquor sale in 10 days: DGP

In campaign against manufacturing and sale of illicit liquor from November 11 to November 20 after the incident of 20 deaths due to spurious liquor in Yamunanagar and Ambala districts, Haryana Police have registered 444 FIRs and arrested 436 individuals. Addressing media persons, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur said that the sale of illegal liquor is a serious offense that will not be tolerated in Haryana and all those who engage in such activity will face the consequences. Kapur said that to curb the manufacturing and sale of illegal liquor, multi-level monitoring is being implemented resulting in the arrest of offenders. This campaign will continue indefinitely to deter those involved in the illicit liquor trade.

Kapur said, senior police officials in the state are actively monitoring liquor vendors, ensuring effective communication and immediate apprehension of offenders. He said, regular video conferences with district officers to tighten the grip on those manufacturing and selling illegal liquor. Highlighting the recent successes of the campaign, DGP disclosed that during the specified period, the police team recovered 11368 country bottles, 1,449 English bottles, 774 beer bottles, 2,352 liters of liquor (Lahan), and 354 liters of raw liquor. He issued a stern warning to liquor vendors engagrd in the illegal sale of liquor. The police department will take decisive action against violators, ensuring that no individual is above the law.

Information reveals that Excise department in the state, too, has intensified raids at their contractors where 5,58,000 cases of liquor has been detected short in contractors godown which specify that liquor is being sold illegally by the licensed contractors causing heavy revenue loss to the government. Mamta Singh ADGP said that police will intervene into the matter and contractors involved in illegal sale, mixing and selling spurious liquor will not be spared, in-spite of the fact they are blessed by the political or influential people.

The DGP appealed to the public to promptly report individuals involved in the illegal production and sale of spurious liquor assuring confidentiality, he stressed the importance of community cooperation in ensuring timely and effective law enforcement actions against offenders.
