Ambala: A survey by One Step Centre reveals that more than 200 cases of domestic violence have been registered with the police in the district in past over four years which include rising graph of three cases registered in 2019, 47 cases registered in 2020, 49 cases registered in 2021, 30 cases registered in 2022 and 71 cases in 2023. It was observed that in nearly 60% cases  husband or wife were found in ‘Live in Relationship’ with the opposite sex, which was the prime reason for the domestic violence and few cases of conflict between the married couples were under trial in the courts.

Information also reveals that between year 2019 to 2023 as many as 702 cases were registered by the police in the district which included four cases in 2019, 102 cases in 2020, 147 cases in 2021, 215 cases in 2022 and 234 cases in 2023. Out of total number of 234 case registered  during year 2023 there was one rape case, five sex exploitation cases, seven phone staking cases, , four cases registered under Pocksey Act, eight cases of child marriage,  12 cases registered under child labour, seven cases of cyber crime, 82 cases of missing without informing the family or kidnapping  and 344 other misacellaneous cases. The study also revealed that in about 60% domestic violence cases, more than in 40% cases the husband or the wife were found living in a relationship with the opposite sex.
