Interstate car lifters gang busted with recovery of six vehicles

Kurukshetra : The CIA-2 staff of the Haryana Police busted an interstate gang of lifting luxury cars with the arrest of three persons identified as Deepak Khanna a resident of Uttam Nagar Delhi, Bhupinder Singh a resident of Moti Nagar Delhi and Gurmeet Singh a resident of Kishor Nagar Ludhiana in Punjab with the recovery of six stolen vehicles from them which included two Fortuners, two Innovas, a Scorpio, and an I-20 car. Inspector Mohan Lal said that the recovered vehicles had been stolen from different locations including at Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Yamunanagar and Chandigarh. He said,the prime accused Deepak Khanna had a criminal record with over 60 theft cases registered against him across Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. He said that Deepak Khanna had shifted his focus to stealing luxury cars in collaboration with Bhupinder and all arrested were remanded to police custody by the court for 10 days.

Inspector Mohan Lal said that Deepak Khanna was expert in advanced techniques of luxury vehicles, including scanning methods to ignite the car engines and also having a master key for Toyota vehicles, facilitating the  illegal sale of stolen vehicles to Gurmeet, selling the stolen cars at discounted prices to the clients from other states or sold by financial institutions mostly registered in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. He said that a case was registered on the complaint of  Aman Khurana a resident of  Guru Nanak Colony whose Scorpio car parked outside the house of his friend during night was stolen at Pehowa and a case was registered with the Sadar police station which was handed over to the CIA Staff-2 for investigation. On the basis of dump data in CCTV cameras police arrested Gurmeet Singh of Ludhiana who disclosed that on his information police reached up to Deepak Khanna and Bhupinder Singh and both were arrested.

During investigation, the arrested accused admitted stealing a large number of  vehicles sold by them at throw away prices. Investigation revealed that nearly 80 cases of stolen vehicles were registered against Deepak Khanna in past in different police stations in Delhi, who was released from the jail in September last year and was declared an offender by the court at Panchkula. Similarly, several cheating cases were registered against Gurmeet Singh in Punjab and he was declared absconding by the Punjab police
