Farmers’ squat at Devidaspura Rail crossing line disrupts Amritsar Delhi Railway track

Amritsar, March 10 –  On the call given by Farmer’s outfit KSC ( Kissan Sangarsh Committee) of Sarwan Singh Pandher today hundreds of farmer activists and its supporters including children and females squatted on the Railway Track at Devidaspura  neaar the Jandiala Railway Station the main Rail line nearly 25 kilometers  away from here. This Railway track is connecting Amritsar with the National capital New Delhi.

Confirming about the protest, its spokesperson Gurbahcan Singh Chabba said that all the incoming and outgoing operation of trains halted as farmers all over the district were joining the protest along with their family members.

To mount pressure on the Union Government, farmers today sit here on the Railway track as the call was by Sarwan Singh Pandher who had earlier   announced that on Sunday those farmers’ unions will organize a ‘Rail Roko’ protest across the country. The protest will remain effective between 12 noon and 4 pm and corresponds with the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march,said Chabba.

However, the r ‘Delhi Chalo’ march was disrupted by security forces on February 13, the protesting farmers have been forced to station at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana.

Farmers were having demands before the union Government, i.e. guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops, the withdrawal of police cases filed against them during previous protests, long pending demands of pensions for farmers and agricultural laborers, debt waivers and stop enhancement  in electricity tariffs.
