Ambala : CIA -2 staff of Ambala police on a clue that drugs are being smuggled by two youths, arrested two persons carrying 4 kg opium on a motorcycle brought from Jharkhand to for supply in Punjab near Kali Paltan bridge on the National Highway No. 1 at Ambala Cantt. Both arrested were identified as Jaspreet Singh a resident of Patiala district in Punjab and Ramjit Ganjhu resident of village Jaled in Chatra district in Jharkhand.
While addressing media persons here Jashandeep Singh Randhawa SP Ambala said that during preliminary investigation, the accused admitted supplying opium being smuggled from Jharkhand in Punjab for a long time. Randhawa said that the arrested accused were produced in the court on Monday and remanded to police custody for six days. He said that a case has been registered against both accused under NDPS Act at Parao police station Ambala Cantt. He further disclosed that with effect from r1 this year till 18h March Ambala police has arrested 28 drug smugglers registering 23 cases under NDPS Act, which include five commercial drug smuggling cases. He said that Ambala police so far have attached properties of drug smugglers of value worth Rs six crore and the campaign against drug smuggling will continue.
