Chhattisgarh’s Home Minister, 3 others hurt in collision

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh’s Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra and three others were injured when their SUV vehicle collided with a pick-up van in the state’s Balrampur district, police said.

The incident took place late on Wednesday evening between Ghat Pendari and Moran village in Wadrafnagar area when the minister was heading towards his native place Chendra in Surajpur district from Wadrafnagar, a senior police official said. Paikra, his aide Rakesh Tiwari, guard Sanjay Singh and the driver sustained injuries, he added. When the SUV reached between Ghat Pendrai and Moran, it collided with the pick-up van coming from the opposite direction, the official said. A police team rushed to the spot and the minister and other injured were admitted to the hospital of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Bhatgaon, the official said. Paikra, who had sustained injuries on his head, legs and chest, is being shifted to Ambikapur hospital for further treatment, he added. — PTI
