In-spite of tough competition among Congress political leaders, Bollywood star Raj Babbar, earlier won Lok Sabha polls twice and Vidhan Sabha polls twice, was able to get the ticket to contest Lok Sabha polls on this highly prestigious seat for which the former state minister Capt Ajay Yadav having a strong hold in the constituency was willing to contest on this seat. The present scenario reveals that for Raj Babbar, having a stamp on him being an outsider, it will be very difficult for him to win the race against the heavy weight BJP contestant Rao Inderjit in the field of politics for the past about four decades. Besides, Rao has won this seat four times in the past and has been working as a minister in the state for the past 10 years. According to information, Rao Inderjit has played an important role in the developments of Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency in the past, especially developing Expressways between Delhi-Mumbai, Dwarka Expressway and Haryana Orbital Rail Project brought prosperity in the area.
Information reveals that on-going rift between Congress groups each led by the former Haryana CM ‘Hooda’ and ‘SRK’ led by Shelja, Surjewal and Kiran Choudhary are also likely to give a severe dent to the Congress contestant Raj Babbar on this seat, having a tough fight with BJP’s heavy weight rival candidate Rao Inderjit, apart from two other contestants on this seat Rahul Yadav Fazilpuria also a Bollywood singer and an artist contesting on behalf of the Janhit Janta Party (JJP) and Hazi Sohrab Khan originally hails from Nuh in Mewat contesting on behalf of INLD with a stronghold in the area having more than four lakh Muslim Voters. When talked to the large number of voters in Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency, most of them were of the view pefering BJP candidate Rao Inderjit helping developments in the area further, which are not possible from an outsider, which would come to halt.
There are total number of 25,78,523 voters in Gurugram Lok Sabha, which include 13,61,483 male and 12,11,802 females and during 2019 Lok Sabha polls BJP candidate had obtained 60.94% votes as compared to the Congress candidate was able to get 34.24% votes.
