Not easy for BJP to win present elections if contested fairly: Mayawati

Karnal: The BSP supremo Mayawati while addressing rally at Dussehra Ground in Karnal on Sunday in favour of Karnal Lok Sabha candidate Inder Singh contesting on behalf of Bahujan Samaj Party addressing a large gathering said that both Congress and BJP governments politicised central probe agencies equally, infact did nothing for the people as well as for the state while ruling in Haryana state. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Kumari Mayawati said that it would be very difficult for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win polls this time, if the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

BSP leader said, since Independence, both parties have ruled over all states of the country. However, both political parties , especially the Congress framed anti-Dalit policies while ruling in Haryana as well as in other states across the country. “Moreover, seeing the prevailing situation, now it will also be difficult for the BJP also to make a comeback if the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner, without tampering of EVMs,” Mayawati said while making a attack on the ruling BJP, she further continued that during present polls, their ‘jumlebaazi’ and false guarantees and assurances won’t help. They promised the country’s poor, weaker sections, middle class and other sections prior to previous polls making tall promises, which remained only on the paper and were not visible on ground. Mayawati claimed that like previous governments, under the present BJP government, poverty, unemployment and inflation and criminal activities went up during about 10 years of BJP rule in the country as well as in Haryana state.

Mayawati said, in most of the BJP-RSS led governments, majority of the work is handed over to the private sector and there is no provision of reservation in the private sector, very little benefit of quotas reaching to lower sections in the country. The BSP leader said that the Centre was not giving free ration to the underprivileged from its pocket, so they need not feel obliged to vote for the BJP. Mayawati said tha the BSP is contesting on all 10 seats in Haryana. The four-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati had arrived in Karnal in a helicopter and was honoured with a gold crown by the party’s state BSP unit. She said that the BSP is contesting without any alliance with any national or state party, but with the support from Dalit, Muslim, state farmers union, backward classes, poor, tribal and labourers.
