300 criminals arrested in 6 hours operation in Haryana, illicit liquor destroyed

Chandigarh/ Ambala: On the direction of Director General Police Haryana, 280 police teams comprising of nearly 3000 policemen arrested over 300 persons in few districts allegedly involved in criminal activities including theft, quarrels and cases under NDPS, Arms, and Excise  Act registered against them in about six hours ‘Operation  Aakarman’ on Sunday.

According to police information, maximum number of anti-social elements were rounded by the police in Kaithal district in which 58 police teams comprising of  250 policemen arrested 74 accused in five to six hours. Similarly, 14 persons including 6 accused absconding allegedly involved in serious criminal activities were arrested during police raids in Sirsa during police operation in which police recovered 154 bottles illicit ‘Desi’ liquor, 200 litre ‘Lahan’ (used to manufacture liquor) and nearly 21 gm heroine.

During search operation in Hisar, teams of 250 policemen arrested 17 accused and recovered from them 111 bottle illicit English wine, 340 litre ‘Lahan’, 16 litre spurious qulity ‘Desi’ liquor and two country made pistols. Police also arrested 17 persons involved in violating driving rules and imposed fine on 133 vehicles. During campaign by 49 police teams in Jhajjar, 29 accused involved in different hard core criminal cases were rounded by the police.

In case of police raids in Bhiwani, 46 teams comprising of  209 policemen arrested 15 criminals from whom 71 bottles illicit liquor, 20 bottle beer, 4 gm heroine and Rs 8270 from the gamblers were recovered. Police also recovered fine from 201 vehicle drivers violating traffic rules. Police on a clue also arrested 7 drug smugglers during raids in Ratia.
Mahesh Nagar police station in Ambala Cantt on Sunday in the presence of senior police and excise department officers and BDPO destroyed illicit liquor seized in as many as 80 cases during 10 days campaign going on in Mahesh Nagar police station area in the Tangri river. The stocks of seized illicit liquor destroyed by police included  1926 bottles ‘Desi’ liquor, 47 bottles medium size (Addha) of ‘Desi’ liquor, 3297 bottles small size  (Pavva) of ‘Desi’ liquor, 269 bottles English wine  and 63 bottles beer.
