Mumbai: The Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is lowering the boom  on drug peddlers and illegal pubs in Pune with related instructions given to the Pune city Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

Calling for renewed police action being initiated against drug peddlers in order to make Pune a drug-free city, the Chief Minister directed the police chief that “bulldozers should be moved on illegal constructions related to drugs.”

This action came about in the light of the Chief Minister learning about drugs being sold in the city, and he also ordered for strict police action against illegal pubs, besides “bulldozing” all structures that are against building rules.

The Chief Minister, during his visit later to Bhandara, declared the Maharashtra Government as being the first government+ to provide Rs 6,000 from the Central Government alongside around Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 from the State Government to farmers with a concessional subsidy and bonus of Rs 700 for paddy under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Shinde, while performing “bhoomipujan” there for various development projects, said that total Rs 547 crores would be spent for overall development of Bhandara district, including Rs 102 crore for water tourism projects that would boost tourism significantly while also creating substantial job opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that over Rs 45,000 crores had been allocated to Maharashtra farmers in the last two years, besides a proposal for the “Marathwada Water Grid” being submitted to the Central Government and initiatives like “Jalyukta Shivar 2.0” being launched.

While the Samruddhi Mahamarg, Metro, Coastal Road and Atal Sethu have been completed, the Vadhavan Port project is expected to be a game-changer for Maharashtra by fostering development in surrounding areas, he said, adding that several irrigation projects including those in Vidarbha have received revised administrative approval, while a “world-class 300-acre central park” is coming up in Mumbai.
