Jagadhri: A Two-Day Tree Plantation drive was organized on 15-07-2024 and will continue on 16-07-2024 by St. Thomas School Jagadhri in collaboration with the Forest Department. The objective was to promote environmental sustainability and community engagement. The students of classes XI &XII enthusiastically participated in the drive and with the help of the forest officials and teachers as a part of SUPW activity. They planted Black berry, Sheesham, Mango, Guava, Cassia glauca, Haar singar and Amaltas at Village Darwa. Saplings were planted with Japanese technique where more plants could be planted in lesser place. They were also taught how to take care of the plants and were encouraged to visit the site regularly to monitor their growth and development.
The drive aimed to contributing to the city’s green cover and combating climate change. Students along with the teachers A. D Tyagi, Sandeep Sharma, Vivek Singh, Varun Benjamin and Pooja Makhija, gathered at Village Darwa opposite the Diary Complex at 9:00 AM, followed by a brief orientation session. Forest Range Officer Sanjeev Kashyap led the programme from the front.
“We were thrilled to organize this event and promote a greener future for our community,” said Dr. Chandana Lall, the Principal of the school. “We invite everyone to join us in this effort and make a positive impact on our environment.”
The drive was declared a great success as over 100 saplings were planted by our students.
