There is no effort to solve the main demands of farmers in the budget

Chandigarh: The United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha issued a joint statement saying that farmers have been disappointed with this budget. No action was taken in the budget on issues related to the MSP Guarantee Act, debt relief of farmers and laborers and disbursement of MSP as per Swaminathan Commission’s C2+50% formula. This year the agriculture budget was 3.15 percent of the total budget, farmer leaders said that we ( farmers and labourers) are 50 percent of the country’s population and the budget for us is only 3.15 percent, it is complete injustice to farmers and labourers . Farmer leaders said that in the budget, the government had talked about launching a campaign to become self-reliant in terms of food grains, oil and pulses, but till the minimum support price guarantee law is enacted, food grains, Self-sufficient diversification is not possible in case of oil and pulses and crops. Farmer leaders said that the government has talked about bringing 108 new types of seeds in agriculture, but the government should first answer that what is the government doing to preserve our “traditional seeds” ? Central government policies are trying to move farmers from self-dependent to market dependent. Farmers also said that out of the budget given to the Agriculture Ministry by the Finance Ministry in the last 5 years, the Agriculture Ministry returned Rs 1 lakh crore, which proves that the current government is not serious about the issues of agriculture.
