11 cyber ‘thugs’ in Ambala & 27 in Mewat arrested in 48 hours

Ambala/ Nuh: Cyber police team Ambala busted a gang of 11 persons involved in cyber crimes allegedly robbed 13 persons recently in different states including Kolkata, Karnataka,Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Police while investigating a case held three members of gang from Jodhpur and Badmer on 1st August identified as Harish Kumar resident of Dharasar (Badmer),Tarun Hooda resident of village Bhadra in Sirsa district and Parvinder resident of Badmer in Rajasthan. The arrested accused were brought to Ambala and produced in the court which sent them to police remand for seven days. ASP Srishati Gupta while addressing media persons here said that police recovered Rs 44 lakh along with 4 mobile phones.

ASP said that during remand police has been able to find out the names and whereabout of as many a 11 members of the gang who had cheated large number of persons in U.P, Bihar, Punjab and other states including a female who lost amount worth Rs 3 crore in share market through this gang and a complaint was made to Ambala cyber police. Information also revealed that this gang was also operating ‘Hawala’ payment transactions.

In another case, Rajasthan police launched ‘Anti-virus Campaign’, Rajasthan Range Special Police Team during a raid with the help of Haryana police arrested four cyber ‘thugs’ residents of Nuh in Mewat. During several raids police arrested 27 cheats used to black mail people. The gang had cheated a teacher, a resident of Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh and even after taking from him Rs 5 lakh still blackmailing him as a result he committed suicide on 11th June this year.

Information reveals, during the ‘Anti-virus’ campaign launched by the Rajasthan police has arrested 256 cyber ‘thugs’ including six minors in the past about two months from which a namount worth Rs 48 lakh has been recovered. While checking messages in their mobile police recovered a large number of   messages for cheating people.
