Flight service for three hours disrupted due uncontrolled drone moments around Airport

Amritsar, August 28 – It was a tough time for the Shri Guru Ramdas International Airport Authority when its ATC tower spotted a sudden moment of three drones in the Airspace which badly disrupted landing and taking off operation of all the scheduled flights.

Talking to FW, officiating Director Airport, Sandeep Aggarwal confirming the incident said that it happened on August 26 at 10.10 p.m and the moments of done remained active almost three hours.

Adding further he said that the flight operation from the Airport remained suspended from 10.10 p.m. to 12.45. Flight operation resumed after 12.45 a.m when ATC tower gave clearance for the flight moments.

He said that the Airport Authority, when noticed the drone moment, immediately informed the police which failed to find out the base where the drones were being operated.

 He said that in this regard the help of the local Air Force station which was adjoining to Airport was also sought besides other intelligence agencies also asked to find out the base of drone operation. He said due to the border area the moment of the drone around the airport was a matter of deep concern for the authorities.

He also made it clear that such moments in the air were spotted for the first time here.

When contacted SHO Airport Ms. Harsimar confirming the complaint made by Airport Authority said that the matter was reported to police thereafter comprehensive joint search operation with CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) was launched whereupon different people from different villages around the airport were interacted but none of the person came forward to confirm the moment of drone. She said that usually when drones move in the air the lights fitted atop blinked but here as per Airport authority there was a single spot light. She said that yet it would be too early to say that it was a drone or some other article.

Since on Monday due to Janamasthami people were celebrating with crackers which were flying in the air carrying illuminated candles inside, said a police official seeking anonymity.
