RPF Ambala recovered nearly 2 kg gold, cash from 2 passengers travelling in Swaraj Express train

In second case during three days

Ambala: On September 5, during a search operation in train no. 42926 Paschim Express, Inspector-in-Charge Javed Khan of RPF Ambala Cantonment and his team seized two trolley bags containing two kg of gold jewellery, other artificial jewellery valued at Rs 1,51,60,000, and Rs 5,00,000 in cash in a second class AC coach in the train soon after it arrived at Ambala cantt railway station from two  separate passengers. RPF raiding team in the second case while checking luggage in a second class AC compartment in Swaraj Express train running between Kota to Jalandhar on Saturday during search of luggage at the railway station Ambala Cantt recovered 2 kg 334 gm gold and Rs 1.17 lakh currency notes from two passengers travelling in the train. When the RPF team demanded bill, documents related to gold, both started quarrelling with the  members of the RPF checking team, instead of producing documents related to the gold and were handed over to GRP at the railways.

RPF Commandant Ambala division Arun Tripathy said that in view of coming Vidhan Sabha elections in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana, a checking campaign has been intensified in the trains and railway stations. Both arrested were identified as Iqbal and Yadvinder residents of Amritsar.  They failed to give satisfactory reply or produce any documents during investigation as regarding gold and cash which was seized by police.
