Three criminals of Thak-Thak gang involved in 85 highway robbery cases arrested

Sonipat: The Crime Branch team of Police in Sonipat has arrested three accused of ‘Thak Thak Gang’ used to commit crimes by breaking the glass of the cars with a slingshot. They have been arrested in connection with a recent robbery of about Rs 11 lakhs. During interrogation, more than a dozen people were arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that about 85 criminal cases are registered against the three accused across the country. The arrested accused were identified as Suraj alias Khopdi, Karna alias Avtar and Vishal alias Vishu originally hailing from Chennai and Tamil Nadu and were presently living on rent in Rajapur and Madhu Vihar in Delhi. The police produced the accused in court on Monday and took them on four-day remand.

 The complainant, an Advocate Ajay a resident of Sector-4, Gurugram had told Rai police station in Sonipat district in his complaint that he is working as an advocate in Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh and District Court, Gurugram. The complainant in his complaint on August 24 said he was going from Chandigarh to Gurugram. When he reached KMP, bike-riding youths fired a fire gun on the rear tyre of his car and threw Mobil oil on the bonnet, windscreen and bumper and they took away  about Rs 11 lakh, laptop, his debit-credit cards and client-related data from his car. Rai police station had registered a case and started investigation.

Police investigation revealed that 85 cases were registered against the three accused in various police stations, which include 43 cases registered against Suraj, 27 against Vishal and 15 against Karna. In police interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that they first distract the driver of vehicles travelling on roads and then steal the goods when he stops the vehicle and most of the crimes were carried out in Delhi NCR region. They also confessed to the crime of theft by breaking the glass with ‘gulail’. The accused had also confessed a crime to the car of Vastu consultant Rakesh Dadhich, a resident of Jaipur on KMP on September 6 and had stolen cash and other goods worth Rs. 85 thousand. During police remand interrogation for four days, the accused admitted many other cases of robbing passengers travelling on the road.
