Not only in Congress where a struggle by a few senior political leaders for the next chief minister face is going on, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too is facing the same situation. Anil Vij was dropped from the Haryana Cabinet after Nayab Saini was sworn in as CM on 12th March this year after the former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was replaced. Union Minister and the Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh also spoke openly at several occasions of his chief ministerial ambitions. At the same time, former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij too expressed desire, staking his claim to be the face of chief minister in the state and at a press conference Vij said he was the most senior BJP MLA in Haryana having contested and won six Assembly elections continuously, and in fray for the seventh time likely to win again but had not made any demand of his party in all these years based on his seniority as well as desired by his followers in party, it is for the high command to decide whether to make me the Chief Minister or not, but if he was made the Chief Minister, he assured to change the destiny and the face of Haryana. However, in the meanwhile during a recent rally held at Kurukshetra Prime Minister Modi declared Nayab Saini as the next chief minister in the state.
In the meanwhile six-time MP and Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh still is in race to be Haryana CM, although while talking to media persons a couple of times said he never personally demanded from the high command, still is in race to be Haryana CM in the state on the basis of his seniority, but he never personally demanded the CM’s post, and would not refuse if it’s offered due to his political achievements and political performance as desired by his supporters, he thinks himself a deserving candidate. Rao Inderjit said if the party offers him this, why would he refuse if the position is handed over to him. While BJP’s former home minister Anil Vij openly sought position of the CM citing his seniority, the Inderjit Camp has yet again raised the demand for the same saying he is currently one of the tallest leaders in the party and the most experienced parliamentarian. The BJP is democratic party and everybody’ s free to seek a position, added Rao.
