ACB arrests doctor while taking Rs 5 lakh bribe

Recovers over Rs 1 crore cash while search at his Panchkula apartment

The team of Haryana Anti corruption Board (ACB) from Karnal during search at the apartment in Aravali Complex Pinjore of the accused, following his arrest on Friday also recovered cash worth Rs 1 crore 2 lakh. According to the police officials, the ACB team had received a complaint from a private hospital owner in Karnal, alleging that Dr Ravi Vimal Deputy CEO of Ayushman Bharat Yozna had demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh and arrested him while accepting Rs 5 lakh towards part payment. An official spokesperson said that the ACB team is interrogating the accused to ascertain the source of this large sum of money and to determine whether more individuals are involved in the case. Various angles of the case are being thoroughly examined, said the spokesperson of ACB.
According to the officials, the ACB team had received a complaint from a private hospital owner in Karnal, alleging that Dr Vimal had demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to revoke the suspension of the hospital registration of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the deal was settled for Rs 5 lakh, and Dr Vimal was caught red-handed while accepting the amount.
