Over Rs  5.88 crore fraud suffered by HAFED, case registered against rice Miller and its guarantors

Kaithal: The Guhla police in Kaithal district has registered a case on the recommendation of Superintendent of Police Kaithal on the complaint of DM, HAFED against a rice miller and his guarantor on 28th October for committing a fraud of value worth over Rs 5.88 crores in rice milling. HAFED, DM in his complaint alleged that during the Kharif marketing season 2023-24 custom milling of paddy crop by the District Milling Committee Kaithal was allotted for rice milling to  firms Goel Food, Cheeka and Messrs  Atma Ram Rice & General Mills, Cheeka and payment of rice by rice millers was to be made to FCI as per the policy for custom milled rice (CMR).

 In return, the rice miller had to give a fixed amount of CMR but the full refund of CMR was not made to FCI by the rice miller. As per the delivery report dated 30th September 2024 till now only 54 percent rice has been delivered to Food Corporation of India by Messrs Goel Food, Cheeka, which was not in line with the target. Rice Miller was repeatedly contacted, but no response was given by the rice miller. Not only this, no action was taken by his guarantors Ram Singh Pari, a grain merchant, Riddhi Siddhi Grain Traders  in Anaj Mandi Cheeka and by Mohit Goyal  Gautam Food in grain market Cheeka.

It is alleged that during the inspection, the accused rice miller was found having required stock of rice as well as the paddy supplied for milling. Police investigating officer Rajesh Kumar said that the police have registered a case and started searching for the arrest of the accused. Goel Food Cheeka had to return 75345.37 tons of rice but the mill operator returned only 54 percent of the rice and during inspection, the accused rice miller was found to be lacking stocks,since the accused rice miller took paddy worth Rs 5,88,72,413 from the government in the name of rice milling but failed to return rice suspected sold rice stocks in the open market.
