CM Saini urges youngsters to study Constitution to know rights, duties

Kurukshetra: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday while addressing students at the Constitution Day event at Kurukshetra University urged youngsters to study the Constitution to understand their rights, duties on which modern India is built. The CM was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the State-Level Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations organised on Constitution Day at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He also inaugurated an exhibition organised by the Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture Department.

Saini said the youngsters of this country are making their presence felt in every field including sports, information technology, digital payments, and startups and to further increase their understanding regarding the constitution, the youngsters should actively participate in the political debates. The state government is actively advancing democratic principles through its progressive social and economic policies, guided by the core values of the Constitution, since Haryana is committed to realising the vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Integral Humanism and Antyodaya. The Chief Minister paid homage to Dr BR Ambedkar and other visionaries who played a key role in drafting and framing the Constitution of India. While emphasizing the significance of the ‘We the People’ in the Preamble of the Constitution, he said that this phrase is a testament to Unity and Integrity. These three words represent India’s collective voice, a pledge of unity and integrity, and a manifestation of people’s trust in the Republic, which is known as the ‘Mother of Democracy.’

Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A has fulfilled the dream of an Akhand Bharat, symbolises the realisation of  ‘One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag and One Leader’. He said, the Constitution gives us rights emphasizing the importance of duties and one must have a balance between duties and rights to ensure constitutional values and expectations. CM further said that Amrit Mahotsav provides an opportunity to reflect, understand and adopt its values in daily life, demonstrating true citizenship and reverence for the Constitution. He also felicitated the students who won various competitions held during the celebrations of Constitution Day. Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva said that the Indian Constitution is not only the foundation of governance but also a unique symbol of India’s cultural, historical, mythological heritage, and artistic legacy, which reminds us of the values and principles on which modern India is built. He appealed to the youth to study the constitution thoroughly to understand their rights.
