Faridabad :A troubling series of incidents has raised serious concerns about Blinkit’s delivery system and its handling of electronic products. Senior journalist and author Narvijay Yadav has accused the platform of theft and tampering in an order, igniting outrage on social media and beyond.

On November 29, 2024, Yadav ordered a pair of boAt Nirvana Ion TWS Earbuds (Ivory White) for Rs 1,603. Upon delivery, he discovered that the left earbud was non-functional, two extra earmuffs were missing, and the box was visibly damaged and tampered with. After multiple complaints, Blinkit’s replacement only worsened the issue.

According to Yadav, the replacement box was also tampered with, and the charging case was empty, with no earbuds inside. He shared video evidence and photographs with Blinkit, but the company denied any wrongdoing, claiming the delivery was ‘intact.’

In a subsequent email, Yadav detailed suspicious behavior by the delivery personnel, who made unsolicited remarks about the gadget’s contents and left abruptly, denying him the chance to inspect the package. Despite his complaints, Blinkit refused to issue a refund or provide another replacement.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Yadav voiced his frustration, warning others about Blinkit’s unreliable services. His tweet quickly gained traction, sparking a broader debate about accountability in online retail.

Yadav also criticized boAt for insufficiently sealing their product boxes, stating that the small stickers used to close the packages were removed, enabling tampering and theft in both deliveries.

A Pattern of Allegations – This is not an isolated incident. In a similar case, a Delhi customer recently alleged that Blinkit delivered a 0.5-gram gold coin instead of the 1-gram one they had ordered, as the Times of India reported. Furthermore, reviews on platforms like MouthShut highlight growing dissatisfaction with Blinkit’s handling of costly electronic items and other valuable goods.

boAt’s Response – The manufacturer of the earbuds, boAt, expressed their inability to provide replacement components for the product. They advised Yadav to explore third-party options for missing accessories, further complicating the resolution of his case.

A Call for Accountability – As fraud and theft complaints mount, consumers increasingly question  Blinkit’s reliability for high-value orders. Yadav has called for a thorough investigation into the mishandling of his order and demanded corrective action from the company.

For now, Blinkit faces heightened scrutiny as customers demand stronger safeguards and greater accountability in handling electronic and expensive items.
