Amritsar , December 17 – Panic gripped in the city when after midnight around 3.15 a.m a powerful defining sound was heard outside the Islamabad  police station in Amritsar.

However, Police denied that it was a blast.  According to police a heavy weight substance fell in the temporary police Santry post which was located outside the police station. Police said there was no causality but only temporary iron roof sheets were damaged.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar strongly denied the blast and said that all the senior police officers visited the spot and everything was normal as there was no damage found on the spot.

Adding further, Bhullar said that earlier at 3.15 a.m thre was a defining sound that was heard outside the police station, police official present in the police station immediately rushed outside and found nothing.

He said that certain members of the public were claiming that there was a blast but in reality there was no truth in it. The loud sound was heard since the police station was located in narrow thick lanes but no damage was there.

Local resident Pawan Kumar (55) living at close proximity to the Police station said, “ There was a powerful defining sound heard around 3.15 a.m which created panic all around, resident rushed outside to see what happened but shortly returned inside their houses due to the panic atmosphere. He said that the Police station was the target but I don’t know exactly rather it was a blast or something else but light photo frames hanging on walls fell on ground.

Another lady from the area said that after the incident there was severe panic in the locality.
