Police arrest three accused after brief encounter in Tarn Taran district

Amritsar, December 25 – In a brief encounter Tarn Taran police have arrested three accused in the Tarn Taran district around 1.30 a.m.

Talking to media today, Deputy Superintendent Police  Atul Soni said during the encounter three accused were nabbed,  identified as Kuldeep Singh @ Ladu, Yadwinder Singh @yada and Prabhjit Singh alias Judge ,residents of Tarn Taran district.

Adding further he said that police got information about the three accused who were hiding in the village field,  on being traced out, police asked them to surrender but they fired gun shots at police.  When a police party in self-defense fired retaliatory fire two accused Kuldeep Singh @ Ladu, Yadwinder Singh @Yada were injured.

DSP said that the injured were admitted in the civil hospital in Tarn Taran and the third accused was Prabhjit Singh alias Judge in police custody.

DSP informed that the arrested accused belonged to notorious gangster Landa Harikey gang.

DSP said that earlier  on   22nd December a FIR was lodged against the arrested accused for demanding ransom of Rs. I crore and deal was finalized for Rs. 50 lakh as they were making frequent telephonic extortion calls. On The basis of complaint a FIR was lodged and police were keeping track on teh movements of the accused and finally police arrested them with one .32 bore pistol. He said further investigation was underway.
