SGPC chief  awarded religious punishment from Akal Takht for hurling abusive language to his predecessor

Amritsar, December 25 -Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami was awarded religious punishment from the Akal Takht the highest Sikh temporal seat for allegedly hurling abusive language to former lady SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur who also remained former cabinet minister in the SAD Government.

On being appeared before the Sikh clergy headed by Jathehdar Akal Takht Gyani Raghbir Singh who awarding religious punishment to Dhami  and told him to clean shoes of visiting devotees to Golden Temple, clean utensils in the community kitchen besides serving food to devotees and to recite Japji Sahib (Sikh religious scripture) completely for five times for atonement besides offering Rs. 500/- in the Gurdwara Golak from his pocket.

Following the directions of Jathedar Dhami today cleaned and polished shoes of devotees, cleaned utensils, and served food to devotees in the community kitchen of the Golden Temple.

Earlier, on December 16, Dhami appeared before the Punjab State Commission for Women where he apologized in connection to his alleged foul language against Bibi Jagir Kaur. He had submitted a written apology stating that he will apologise personally to Bibi Jagir Kaur. Kaur had demanded his resignation.
