Amritsar : In a brief encounter Tarn Taran police nabbed notorious criminal Luvkaran Singh alias Manga in the wee hours today.

Sharing detail of police encounter with the notorious criminal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarn Taran  Kamaljeet Singh said that encounter took place outskirt of Tarn Taran city near Jasmatpur flyover,  where the accused was intercepted during the routine night checking by the police troops. On being intercepted the accused fired two gunshots at a police party wherein Assistant Sub Inspector of Punjab police Gurdeep Singh had a narrow escape when a gunshot pierced through his turban. 

Adding further, DSP said that in self-defense   police also fired a gunshot at the accused which hit the leg of the accused and subsequently he was overpowered with illegal weapon and a car.

The injured accused was admitted in the civil hospital of Tarn Taran and was already involved in various criminal cases.
