Haryana Roadways will operate 22 buses daily for Kumbh in Haryana: Anil Vij

Chandigarh/ Ambala: Addressing media persons, Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labor Minister Anil Vij said that The Haryana Transport Department will start bus services from every district of the state for the Kumbh being organized in Prayagraj. He stated that one bus will be operated from each district for Kumbh and this service will run daily from every district. Vij added that the bus service will commence from every district starting today.

In reply to a question regarding the Delhi elections being held today, Vij commented that the results are due on the 8th, the same date when Haryana’s election results were announced. He suggested that Delhi’s results would be similar to Haryana’s asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party has no voter support and the BJP will form the government with full strength. Vij further accused AAP of being involved in corruption, mentioning that several of its leaders have faced corruption charges and some have even served time in jail. He emphasized that AAP leaders have only secured bail in corruption cases but have not been acquitted. He expressed confidence that Delhi’s wise voters will never hand over power to AAP under any circumstances.

A couple of dats ago, Transport Minister Vij Conducts raid on overloaded vehicles, personally inspects truck and vehicle documents on the Ambala-Narayangarh Road to catch overloaded vehicles. He stopped several trucks, inspected and checked their documents, and trucks and other vehicles found with incomplete or incorrect documents were seized by the police. Vij during the evening, unexpectedly reached Baldev Nagar on Narayangarh Road and started inspecting trucks himself. Shortly after his arrival, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and police also reached the spot. The minister interrogated truck drivers, checked their documents, and inspected the loaded goods. Many drivers failed to present their documents and several vehicles were found with irregularities. Vij directed officials to take strict action against such violations, leading to the seizure of multiple trucks by the police. He found 12 vehicles with Incomplete documents during the raid imposing heavy fine and impouned 10 vehicles unable to pay fine. While speaking to media persons, Vij revealed that he has directed the Ambala RTA to act strictly against the overloaded vehicles are a major cause of accidents. To ensure compliance, he decided to conduct an inspection himself. During the raid, around a dozen vehicles were found transporting soil without proper permits, several drivers lacked licenses and some vehicles were overweight or oversized. One driver suspected of being intoxicated and was sent for a medical test.

Vij firmly stated, as long as he is there, no vehicle without proper documents will be allowed on the road. He instructed all department officials to set up checkpoints and rigorously inspect vehicle documents. He also emphasized that this action will continue in the future. Recently, he had also conducted a surprise inspection at the Rohtak Electricity Board, directing officials to resolve public complaints promptly.

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister said that Haryana Roadways carries three lakh passengers and employees daily, and efforts are being made to provide them with good food. The Tourism Department is working on a trial basis to provide food to bus passengers initially at five bus stands in the state, similar to the system used by the railways. Vij said that Haryana Transport should not be referred to simply as ‘Parivahan’ but as ‘Pari Ki Behan’ and while there are challenges in making improvements, everyone will work together to reform the transport department. He also mentioned that we want to build rest houses on highways to provide better facilities for drivers, women, and passengers to refresh. Vij said, 80% of accidents are due to human error, hence there is a plan to build rest houses on highways.

Vij was addressing the media after launching the five-rupee meal service at the Ambala Cantonment bus stand, initiated by the ‘Aastha Foundation’ a social welfare organization. He praised the foundation’s efforts and announced a donation of five lakh rupees from his discretionary fund to the organization. The transport minister also mentioned that this meal service would benefit passengers, staff and people staying at night shelters at the bus stands. He stated that this meal service, offered by the ‘Aastha Foundation’, would be available from 11 AM to 2 PM for just five rupees. He emphasized that he supports every good initiative and wants social organizations to come forward. Not all work can be done by the government, and people should contribute as well, he said.

Vij said that passengers traveling long distances to Ambala bus stand will now be provided with good food. He said, government decisions are also being made, and as part of the trial, agreements are being made with the Tourism Department at five bus stands to provide meals. If successful, this facility will be extended to other bus stands also. “Furthermore, there are plans to provide meals at Haryana Roadways, modeled after the railway system. Three lakh passengers and employees travel daily by roadways, and efforts are being made to provide them with better meals,” he added. Vij also emphasized the importance of creating rest houses on highways, as most accidents happen due to human errors, and drivers are often fatigued.

While addressing media, Transport Minister Anil Vij said that we are working on developing a tracking software/app for buses, so passengers can track where their buses are. The app will also be available on passengers’ mobile phones, providing accurate information on bus status. He also mentioned that new AC and electric buses will be purchased, and five electric buses have already been deployed on local routes in Ambala. ” We are continuously working to improve the Haryana Roadways system, ” Vij said.
