Five ATVM installed at Ambala railway station

Domestic Airport to be operational by February last week

Ambala: The railway administration taking steps to provide convenience to the railway passengers and to reduce the increasing crowd at the railway station. The railway stations in twin city Ambala Cantt and Ambala City are likely to give a new look shortly as told by the DRM Ambala. Now the railway has installed Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at the railway stations of Ambala division to avoid passengers standing in long queues to get tickets. It is being said that five machines have been installed at Ambala railway station so that people traveling by train will now get tickets easily.

Giving information, the senior divisional commercial manager said that the railway has already provided reserved tickets and different facilities to the passengers, but now ATM has been installed at the railway station to get general tickets as well, in which anyone can get a ticket of any station through QR CODE, whose payment will be deducted from his account. If the ticket does not come for any reason, then his money will be refunded within 24 hours. He told the person who cannot get the ticket, for him a person will be deployed there who will help him. This will also provide employment to that person. This will enable you to easily get tickets to any place in less time through these machines and there is no need to stand in a queue for hours to get tickets.  
While talking to media persons, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said the Ambala Cantonment domestic airport is a significant achievement for the region and would be operational by the end February or beginning March this year. He said the airport would enhance connectivity for Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, the airport would support the landing of large aircraft and operate efficiently in all weather conditions. During an inspection of the airport, Vij said almost all preparations for the domestic airport are complete. During the inspection, Vij discussed the progress with the Superintendent Engineer and reviewed the security arrangements.

Vij informed that the security equipment is arriving soon and will be installed at gates and other designated areas. The minister instructed officials to properly level and clean the premises to enhance the airport’s aesthetics. Speaking to the media, Vij emphasised that the domestic airport at Ambala Cantonment would be highly beneficial for the public in the area. Vij highlighted that Ambala is an old railway junction connecting multiple states, and the new airport will further increase its significance and beautify the cantonment. He said he had discussions with the Union Civil Aviation Minister in Delhi, which expedited the airport’s development. Initially, central police forces were to be stationed at the airport, but he advocated for Haryana Police instead. “Police personnel have been trained, and robust security measures are in place. The deployment of airport staff will also be voluntary,”  Vij said.

Vij said the state government has reached agreements with airlines for flights connecting Ambala and Hisar. He sought the inclusion of major airlines like Air India and IndiGo to facilitate flights to other states. He assured that the airport could handle large aircraft and operate in all weather conditions. Among others present during the inspection were Superintendent Engineer Harpal Singh and Executive Engineer Ritesh Aggarwal.
