Hospitals will not stop treatment of patients eligible for Ayushman-Chirayu scheme, will continue treatment of the poor: IMA Haryana

Chandigarh: Private hospital operators associated with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Haryana will treat poor people eligible for treatment under Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Haryana in their hospitals. IMA officials have said that they are satisfied with the decisions of the marathon meeting held in Chandigarh on Monday with the Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar. Cooperation is expected from the state government on some points. The government’s attitude on these points is positive, after which the doctors have decided to continue treating the poor as decided the treatment will be done in a private hospital, payment will be made by March 31 this year. According to Dr. Dhirendra Soni, general secretary of IMA Haryana, a meeting with the chief principal secretary went on till late on Monday night, the report of which has not been received, due to this, there was confusion among the members of IMA whether they should continue the treatment or stop it.

On Tuesday, the state government released the report of the meeting in which it was said that all the patients who will be treated by private hospitals till March 9, all of them will be paid by March 31 in any case. Dr. Ajay Mahajan demanded interest from the government on the pending payment. Information reveals, the government owes about Rs 200 crore out of 1.20 lakh pending bills of about 600 private hospitals in the state. According to IMA Haryana President Dr Mahavir Jain and Ayushman Hospital Wing Chairman Dr Suresh Arora, most doctors wanted the meeting report to be released. The state government has released the same.

Hospital operators were upset that unnecessary deductions are made in their bills. Many times, objections are raised as to why the patient was kept in the hospital for so many days when the doctors have to save the patient’s life Dr Arorae said that as per the assurance given by the state government, we will wait for the payment till 31st March, if the assurance is not fulfilled, then a meeting will be called and treatment in hospitals will be stopped completely, the President of IMA Haryana said, the  doctors of private hospitals in Haryana will treat patients eligible for Chirayu Ayushman Yojana. They will continue to treat poor patients in hospitals. It was decided in the meeting that the patients who will be treated in these hospitals will be positovely paid by March 31.
