Lok Sabha Secretary General gets another extension in tenure

New Delhi: The tenure of Utpal Kumar Singh (Retd IAS:1986:UD) as Secretary-General, Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat has been extended further for a period of one year w.e.f. 01.12.2024. With successive extension he will be completing five years long tenure in the coveted chair on 30.11.2025.

Utpal Kumar Singh (UKS), former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, was drafted in the coveted position on 30.11.2020 on a contract basis in the rank and status of Cabinet Secretary for a period of one year ending 30.11.2021. Since then he has been getting successive extensions.

UK Singh replaced Mrs Snehlata Shrivastava (Retd IAS:1982:MP) whose extended term as Secretary-General, Lok Sabha, and Lok Sabha Secretariat ended on 30 November,  2020. Her term of the contract as SG was extended on 28.11.2019 for a period ending 30.11.2020.

Snehlata Shrivastava was considered to have hand picked by Late Arun Jaitley for the coveted chair.
