Government must immediately revoke NSA imposed on Amritpal Singh: Dhami

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has condemned the government’s decision to extend the detention of Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act (NSA) for another year in Dibrugarh Central Jail, Assam. He has demanded that the NSA be immediately revoked.

Dhami stated that this step by the government is a direct violation of human rights, as it keeps him away from due judicial process.

He claimed that Amritpal Singh has not committed any crime that justifies branding him anti-national and imprisoning him thousands of kilometers away from Punjab. This action is not appropriate from a human rights perspective.

He called upon the Punjab Government to immediately withdraw the NSA imposed on Bhai Amritpal Singh and allow him a fair and impartial judicial process.
