According to Renu Bhatia, Chairperson of Haryana State Women Commission, Live-in law was passed wrongly. Opposing the live-in relationship while talking to media she said that this law is wrong and is being misused as in about 60 percent of the cases, women and men living in live-in with mutual consent but later on, when there is a rift, they file a rape case making allegations o each other. Renu Bhatia said that in her view the live-in law has been passed wrongly, because in such cases in which the man and woman live together with mutual consent, later if there is a rift, usually a rape case is registered. She said, is completely against this law and if given a chance, she will raise her voice against it.

Chairperson of Haryana State Women Commission and during inspection at One Stop Center Yamunanagar on Tuesday disclosed that this year 7500 cases have come to the commission, out of which 800 cases went to court and the rest were settled. Out of all the cases that come to the commission, nearly 20 percent of them are found to be false, most of these are related to property disputes. Bhatia said, 100% cases are being settled in Haryana State Women Commission in which the complainant is being given a chance five to six times. She said that 22 cases related to NRIs have also come to the commission in which immediate action is being taken on them. In such cases youth goes abroad after getting married wrongly. When this matter was raised in the Commission, threats were received. She said such people going abroad in the wrong way should think. “Girls should change themselves, if they are going with someone then it should be their own responsibility. If they are friends with someone and he is taking her with him, they themselves are responsible for consequences,” Renu Bhatia said.
Renu Bhatia was speaking at a seminar on legal and POCSO Act organised at a girls college a couple of days ago. She said, when it comes to the safety of girls, the first thing that comes to mind is the incidents of crime against them. She admitted that the incidents of crime against girls are fast increasing year after year but these can be curbed with a little awareness and vigilance. Chairperson Renu Bhatia also inspected the One Stop Centre in the premises of the Women and Child Department and checked the records. She could not answer questions related to the follow-up of cases. During this time, the Chairperson herself called on mobile in four to five cases.
