Acquitting Ram Rahim in murder case is an unsatisfactory decision: Harjinder Singh Dhami

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami terming the acquittal of Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the murder case of Dera manager Ranjit Singh as unfortunate, said that this person with immoral character and accused of hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs should not get any kind of relief.

Dhami said that the Haryana government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party ignoring the norms, has already favoured Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the main accused in the 2015 case of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and now this verdict in the Ranjit Singh murder case is also unsatisfactory.

The SGPC President said that we respect the courts. He said that Ram Rahim is serving the sentence for many heinous crimes and it is the duty of the Central Bureau of India (CBI) to ensure a solid follow-up in the Ranjit Singh murder case so that public confidence in its investigation system is not lost. Dhami also said that the SGPC, being a representative body of Sikhs, is also ready to provide possible support to the family of Ranjit Singh in this murder case against Gurmeet Ram Rahim, a culprit of Sikh community.
