Action against adulterators serving poison instead of sweets during festival season

Teams of CM Flying Squad in Haryana along with district food safety officer has intensified raids at sweets shops and stores selling adulterated eatables as well as foods and bakery products during current festival season. The teams collected large number of samples for sweets as well as other food products including samples of milk and milk products from milk dairies all over in the state and take stern action against those serving poison to consumers instead of sweets and other food and milk products.

CM Flying Squad accompanied by Dr Praveen Malhotra and Dr Joginder Singh raided large number of milk dairies and sweets shops at Rohtak, collected three samples of milk and milk products including cheese and ‘khoya’  from Krishna Dairy at Janta Colony, destroyed 40 kg ‘Rosogulla’ having insects inside when being prepared in a factory and also destroyed 45 kg cake having fungus inside in a bakery at Sukhpura Chowk and also collected large number of samples from different sweets shops and bakeries to forward the same to laboratory at Chandigarh when it will take 15 to 20 days to get report, Dr Joginder said. CM Flying Squad jointly with the staff of food safety department Rohtak collected samples of sweets, milk products from milk dairies and bakery products found unfit for use from several places in the town. Information reveals, CM Flying Squad also collected more than 175 samples in past 24 hours during raids at Kaithal, Jind and Rewari.

During a survey report conducted by media persons at Ambala out of total number of 173 samples collected in past nine months with effect from January to September this year as many as 44 samples failed and unfit for use, 28 samples are yet under observation, the results of 12 samples awaited and notices has been sent to 15 adulterators by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ambala City. According to previous year record, out of total number of 69 samples collected during the year during 2021 only six samples were rejected and the punishment was declared by the court in five cases whose sampled were declared unfit for and against those  Rs 18000 fine was imposed.

Dr Rajiv Food Safety Officer Ambala told that during last Vidhan Sabha session in the state government has directed to take stern action against adulterators, milk dairies, sweets shops in the state and those selling adulterated food and milk products should be punished severely liable for sentence up to six years and fine up to 10 lakh according to nature of crimes.
